MISSION

Women play a vital role in taking care and looking after the children, old aged, handicapped etc. providing them with essential knowledge, skills and training to be sustainable and capable hence recognising this important role of women ,Prerana a all women organisation was established on July,2006 with an objective to care and educate the children, helping the old aged, inspiring and training the handicapped and making them capable and happy by incorporating women working in different fields .It is a non governmental, non profit, non political and self governed organisation working solely for development of women, children and the old aged. The Prerana office is located at ward no.20, Pulchowk of Lalitpur District. The organisation is run by a group of women and as a start up funding the founders and other members of the organisation have lend certain funding to the organisation in order to meet the establishment cost.

Prerana's mission is to work for development and improvement of women, children, old aged and handicapped by, taking care of them, educating them, training them and providing skills to them so that they are independent, capable and self sustained. It aims to create an independent resource pool which can be used as facilities like children's and elder's home away from home and market place for household product made by women.

The main goals or objectives

  • Caring for the child, developing them mentally as well as physically and providing them with necessary education by developing child care and educational centre.
  • Caring and looking after the old aged by building recreational and spiritual shelter for them and making them happy and sustained.
  • Inspiring handicapped people, training them and making them capable and self sustaining.
  • Educating the children and minimizing and stopping school drop outs.
  • Stimulating positive and optimistic thought in all genres.>
  • Conducting as well as and receiving, necessary and required education, surveying and research.
  • Collaborating and extending membership with other organisation working with similar objectives, establishing sound relationship with such organisation and sharing ideas and views with such organisation and supporting them as well.
  • Gathering funds for development of the organisation and utilising it wisely.
  • Creating state of the art multi functional resource cum learning centre in the field of children, handicap and elderly, which can be utilized as a forum for governmental and non governmental dialogue and negotiation.
  • Publishing books for public awareness by collecting information from other books, newspapers national, international and local rules and regulations.
  • Taking necessary steps for development of new law and time apt changes and amendments in the existing law by studying, analysing, researching and periodic reviewing of existing laws and policies of the organisation.
  • Conducting income generating and skilful vocational trainings necessary for the women, children, old aged and handicapped development as needed.

Membership

There are three types of membership i.e. General, Honorary and lifetime. The general membership of the organisation is granted by the executive committee or members after filling the membership form and paying the membership fee denoted by the organisation if all the eligibility criteria are fulfilled. General members meet every year to discuss the ongoing activities, future activities to be done, funds, reviewing the policies and programs, discuss about the income and expenditure of the fiscal year etc of the organisation.

Criteria for membership:

  • women possessing Nepali Citizenship
  • must have completed 16 years of age
  • must have sound physical and mental health
  • must not be involved in any legal problems and illegal activities
  • And must not bear any personal selfish motives.

Prerana Well Wishers

Prerana well-wishers is a composition of the friends and family of Prerna members and others who wants to take part in Prerana initiated activities. Currently there are more than 60 members who contributed every month Rs. 100 to 500 as loan to Prerana. the workshop for well wishers is planned after number of well wishers crossed the hundred to discuss more on utilization of the loan and gather suggestions and comments from them.

Registration Process

It was long and tedious process. The founding members of prerana after meeting several occasions decided to formally registered an organization name Prerana. Thus young lady lawyer Kabita Thapa was consulted on the matters of legal process. but it was Lawer Krishna Paneru who helped throught the process till all the certified documents are obtained from such organizations like Nepal Police; district development committee, district administration office and social welfare council. It took more than three months to finalize all registration process. And Finally on ----------- prerana registered as an non profit, non governmental organization.

Secretariat

Prerana's secretariat was hosted free of cost in own residence by one of board members during its initial stage. After locating Prerana Secretariat nearly for ten months at the private residence, Prerana moved its secretariat to present location.
